It’s been an interesting and scary time on the money markets lately; folks with pensions will be wondering if all those years of prudent saving have been worth it in the end, with millions wiped off the stock-market literally overnight. Thank God we’ve got our cars! Even if the values of these plummet dramatically, it can never diminish the pleasure we get from driving them, polishing them, racing them… Hell, even just looking at them!
According to reports we’re hearing from the States though, the value of classic cars aren’t tumbling though; if anything they appear to be going up, as buyers and owners realise the volatility of the financial markets and either think ‘What the Hell!’ and have some fun with their money (try taking your trust fund for a drive on a crisp sunny morning!) or genuinely think classic cars are a safe financial haven.
No one could have foreseen all this five or six years ago when the plans were put in motion to produce the new Doge Challenger or even the new Chevrolet Corvette Z06, both of which feature first drives in the latest issue of Classic American. For a lot of us though, as long as there’s money in the bank and fuel on the forecourt, we’ll be driving these beasties as long as we can - it is, after all, our passion. There’s so much in this month’s magazine I can’t even begin: a ’67 Shelby Mustang, ’55 Chevrolet Bel Air, ’68 Dodge Super Bee, a ’59 Ford Skyliner… even a guide to importing your American vehicle from the United States and the first instalment of our Camaro restoration series… With Spring in the air, May’s issue of Classic American will definitely put a spring in your step!
