For American vehicles only, Super Stock
is a bracket class, meaning that it's not necessarily the
fastest car that wins - this means that as well as the ten-second
all-out racers there are standard street cars and pick-ups
too, all with a theoretically equal chance of winning. It's
sharp reactions and consistency that matter. The 2006 championship
went right down to the wire, and the eventual winner was
Tim Watts in a near-standard 2005 Mustang.
You can follow the Classic American Super Stock in Classic
American over the summer and autumn months, or why not go
and see it for yourself? You'll find York Raceway near the
village of Melbourne, a few miles south of York. Check out
the dates on www.york-raceway.co.uk.
