Editor's Intro
Crikey!
15 September 2011
If your Classic American feels even chunkier than usual, then I make no apologies – this month’s magazine contains the first of our Collector’s Series of double-sided adverts, celebrating this month that much loved icon of the American highway, the Ford Mustang!
Welcome... September 2011
18 August 2011.
It’s official. After decades of languishing as an automotive metaphor for being square, old-fashioned and terminally ‘uncool’, folks have finally rediscovered what marvellously versatile and (say it out loud!) practical vehicles American station wagons can be.
Cha’ Cha’ Change...
21 July 2011.
Is the American car scene changing? As older cars become scarcer and newer ones replace them; you could argue the demographic is always in a state of transition or flux. Are some of our nicer, rarer and more interesting American cars leaving these shores, heading back to the US or mainland Europe and Scandinavia, bought by enthusiasts tempted by the weakness of Sterling and our relatively low prices? It’s an issue raised by a reader in our Letters page this month and it’s certainly an interesting perspective.
Mix-it up!
16 June 2011.
This month’s Classic American really sums up what this magazine is all about – it’s a veritable smorgasbord of everything American and automotive!
Welcome... June 2011
19 May 2011.
Summer it would seem is here; either that or we’re going to have one of those oddball hot-sunny springs followed by a long damp summer – hopefully not the latter!
What’s a classic?
21 April 2011.
Take a look at the car below… what do you see? An abandoned wreck, or a future classic? This was taken around the corner from my father’s house in Reykjavik, Iceland on a recent visit.
Welcome... April 2011
17 March 2011.
We start this month off on a sad note with the announcement of the passing of long-standing Classic American advertiser Gary Heal, proprietor and owner of American parts business ARP (American Restoration Parts).
Welcome... March 2011
17 February 2011.
The recent wave of political protests in the Arab world has taken the media by storm and you can hardly turn on the TV without saturated coverage of this country or that country on the verge of political revolution.
Welcome... February 2011
20 January 2011.
Happy New Year! I hope you’ve had a good Christmas and feel rested and revitalised for 2011.
Merry Christmas!
16 December 2010.
It’s been an interesting 12 months at Classic American and on the American car scene in general. Many readers and advertisers alike have found the last year to be a tough one, with the current challenging economic climate. However, for the most part we’re still all here and still moving forward.
