This years Hot Rod Hayride took place at The National Shooting Centre at Bisley, Surrey on June 10-12th. Jerry Chatabox and The Executioners Car Club are the brains behind this event and this year they really pulled out all the stops.

The poor summer weather gave way to blue skies and sun for most of the weekends fun and games. Live music from The Humdingers, The Go Getters, Jack Rabbit Slim and more kept all the revelers entertained while the pre '66 only show field allowed the car fans to scrutinize and drool over the wide variety who made the journey.

Highlight of the weekend for many was the oval dirt track racing at the secret location in deepest darkest Hampshire. The Historic Stock Cars took to the track first, laying on an awesome display of skill and bottle for the appreciative crowd. Then the Hayride punters took the track and had a ball. Thankfully no major incidents occurred other than a few close shaves with the barriers and Steve Hillary's wheel being pulled off the axle mid-corner.

Overall a very relaxed and chilled out feel to this years show and a huge success for The Executioners yet again. Next year they'll have a lot to live up to, but I have no doubts at all they'll succeed. See you there.

03 - Freshly imported 55 Chevy Gasser runs tidy 327 and 5-speed Tremec.
05 - Miss Mary Ann & The Ragtime Wranglers
07 - Eager rodders sign up for a trip out on the track.
08 - Race faces all round.
09 - The High School Hellcat won the Chicks Choice award for it's day at the races.
10 - Nick Blanche sums up his first trip around the trip in one look.....fun fun fun. He took the award for best effort out on the track.
11 - Marie von Beatnik waves the chequered flag as Robbie Ross wins his race with obvious enthusiasm.
12 - Laurent Bagnard of French magazine “Powerglide” gets the shot.
13 - Chris Hosegood in his Model T “Skinny Car”. Got award for his handlebar tash and period perfect outfit.
14 - Brian 'Crusty' Perks picks up what's left of his wifes '50 Plymouth fender skirts and wheel trims. Oops.
15 - Jim Turnbull screams “No Photos” as his fuel pump failure meant an early end to his first run out,
but more than made up for it on his other runs.
16 - Executioner Stuart Eccersley keeping it traditional in his '37 Ford.
17 - Historic stock car racers show the punters how it’s done.
18 & 19 - Steve Hillary slides it sideways. But pays the price on his next lap when the wheel
pulls straight off the wheel nuts and grinds to a halt. Thankfully no major damage
is done and some washers allow him to drive home the next day.
20 - Chris Manning in his rather fetching “coral” one-sie offers some advice to Duncan Bell “Yes, it’s broken”.
21 - Wee Davie Marshall shows off his previous Speedway skills and gets it all opposite locked
in his modified.
22 - Flying in formation, from the back of the camera car.
23 - Lee Welch of the Detonators CC in his flathead powered ’53 showed it’s not just rods that can sling it
about on the track.
24 - Davie’s modified paid the price for being so low. Denting the rear valance and losing a door out on the
track. Didn’t’ slow him down as he was back out again within minutes.
25 - Paul Harris in his Essex V6 powered T. One of the many that braved the shale track on Saturday
afternoon.
26 - Adrian Smith gives his better half Sue the ride of her life.
27 - Nick Blanche over-cooks it and heads for the barriers yet again.
28 - Simon “Ratty” Read borrowed Doris from his mate Elmo for the weekend and promised he wouldn’t go
any where near the track. Thankfully Elmo is very understanding.
29 - 70’s inspired chopper takes to the track. Check out those bars!!
30 - Paul Barrows '29 Sedan and Bob Broadway park up and soak up the rare summer sun.
Paul went on to win the Best Custom Rod award.
31 - A’s a plenty.
32 - Volksrod Pickup looks the part on wires.
34 - The Humdingers rally the crowd with their hillbilly rock.
35 - Spiderman made a brief appearance.
36 - The chilled out feel of the weekend carried on into the small hours.
37 & 38 - Jack Rabbit Slim filled in at the last minute and played a storming set on Saturday night.
39 - Marie von Beatnik gets the undivided attention during her French art class inspired burlesque show.
40 - Executioners CC President Terry Howarth, one of the people behind the Hayride events.
